A New Era: The Future of the Angry Christian Podcast

The Angry Christian Podcast released it’s first episode on September 9, 2019 and has run for a full 4 seasons. Over those 4 seasons we have released 43 episodes reaching nearly 20,000 downloads and being heard on nearly every continent in the world. This is amazing and we couldn’t have done it without our listeners.

S4ep13 – Complacency in the Church and How We Can Begin to Reverse It

Recently I saw a social media friend of mine (who also happens to be a pastor) post the following question: “What are you going to do about your complacent approach to Jesus and His church?” And it got me thinking about the many times… Continue Reading “S4ep13 – Complacency in the Church and How We Can Begin to Reverse It”

S4Ep11 – Mass Shootings and Gun Control with guest Eric Nevins

You may not realize this, but there were 7 mass shootings in 6 different states in the month of March 2021 within the span of 10 days. And one of them happened down the road from Eric Nevins, host and founder of the Halfway There Podcast,… Continue Reading “S4Ep11 – Mass Shootings and Gun Control with guest Eric Nevins”

S4Ep10 – Love Your Neighbor And Your Enemies

Everyone has that one neighbor. Maybe in some cases you have more than just the one. But you know what I’m talking about…

The neighbor who is completely inconsiderate and rude, cares nothing about what others think and how they might be disturbing their neighbors around them, and when confronted looks at you like you’re the one who is being an inconvenience to them.

S4Ep8 – what’s Love Got To Do With It?

Tina Turner had a song in the 80’s where she asked the question, “What’s Love Got To Do With It?” As believers…we know that love has EVERYTHING to do with it.

Listen to this message one of our hosts (Brad Bates) was asked to deliver to the church family at Knightsville United Methodist Church in Knightsville SC on March 7, 2021.

S4Ep4 – Groundhog Day: 2020 On Repeat

We are one month into 2021 and it already feels familiar. Almost like 2020 is on repeat. Let’s talk about that!

Death and Taxes

Two things are for sure in this life: death and taxes! These are the two things even the most resolute skeptics get religious about. What’s your money being spent on? What’s the government giving or taking away from you and why? What are the… Continue Reading “Death and Taxes”

Abortion and A Homicide Charge – Arizona Bill HB 2650

The following is a peak behind the curtain at a discussion between the Angry Christian Podcast hosts via Facebook messenger as it relates to the effectiveness of the new Arizona Bill HB 2650 aimed at charging those who get an abortion and those who… Continue Reading “Abortion and A Homicide Charge – Arizona Bill HB 2650”

S3Ep7 – That’s a Wrap – 2020 Edition

We have finally come to the end of the year that will forever live in infamy…the year otherwise known as 2020. This year has been one of the most difficult seasons in the human experience in recent history as we watched a pandemic quite… Continue Reading “S3Ep7 – That’s a Wrap – 2020 Edition”

S3Ep6 – Holidays On Lockdown

S3Ep5 – Political Jesus: Is Jesus Conservative or Liberal?

We live in a very politically divided time. Everyone sees the “other side” as the enemy. Conservatives see liberals as enemies and liberals see conservatives as enemies. Neither side seems very willing to work through differences, but instead want to paint with broad strokes and wide brushes the other party. To make matters worse, individuals have come to some conclusion that Jesus would’ve been a supporter of their party. But, would he? Is Jesus a conservative or a liberal? How about a socialist? Let’s talk about that!

S3Ep4 – White Jesus Vs Black Jesus

In a time when racial tensions are high, people often want to bring Jesus into it. Not just from a “what would Jesus do” aspect, but also from “What race was Jesus?”. So, in this episode, we explore that a little. Was Jesus white? Was Jesus black? Tune in to find out where we land on this question.

S3Ep3 – Jesus: Legalist or Anarchist?

Was Jesus a legalist, an anarchist, neither, or both? Tune into this episode as we explore another facet of the character of Jesus and 2 more ways that Jesus is often portrayed by people who say they know him, or at least say they know about him.

S3Ep2 – Jesus: Warrior or Pacifist?

On episode 2 of season 3, we continue our discussion and exploration of who Jesus is by asking the question, “Was Jesus a Warrior, a Pacifist, neither, or both?”

S3Ep1 – Who Is Jesus? Season 3 Intro

Everyone has their own ideas about who Jesus is…but it is important that we actually know who Jesus is, and not just who we would like Him to be. Season 3 is dedicated to exploring the many ways people portray Jesus and comparing that to what the Bible tells us about Jesus. It’s sure to be an awesome season filled with great discussions and thought provoking nonsense (wouldn’t be an ACP episode without a little humor, now would it?) See you there!

S2 Ep007 – I Can’t Breathe (Part 1)

George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and more represent unjust deaths in America that have led to protests and riots across the entire United States. The phrase “I Can’t Breathe” was some of the last words George Floyd spoke as he died under the weight of a police officer who had his knee in his neck while 3 other officers watched on and did nothing. “I Can’t Breathe” has become the new cry of the black community that has been struggling for as long as American History itself to find their place in society and be heard, seen, and treated equally. On this episode Brad and Brian talk about these events, the protests, the riots, and what it’s like to be a black person growing up in America. It’s a hard conversation, but a needed one that we hope you’ll take the time to listen to.

S2 Ep002 – Not My President

The Democrat Debate took place the night we recorded this episode and it got us thinking about some things. Does God have a political party? Is it fair to say “Not My President”? Is it possible to agree with those on the “other side” on various things without supporting their overall political platform? How do we get to a better place in our political discourse? Does the Bible have anything to say about politics? These questions and more we discuss in this episode of the Angry Christian Podcast.

BONUS: Triggered – The Christian Outrage Culture

After watching the western church response to John MacArthur/Beth Moore, Kanye, then Kanye/Joel Osteen, and now Chick-fil-A I can confidently say that the reality is these folks get triggered just as easily as their liberal and millennial counterparts…they just get triggered over different things.

Episode 005 – Sticks and Stones

What do you Kanye West, Beth Moore, and John MacArthur have in common? They are all believers, and their recent actions have sparked a LOT of controversy in the Western Christian world over the last few weeks, and put a bright spotlight on a major issue facing the Church today…the ability to disagree with grace.

BONUS: Election Day Woes

I used to be obsessed in a very unhealthy way with politics. It consumed my thoughts, my actions, my social media, my discussions, my arguments…it very literally consumed everything. I spent many years expressing my views about all things political, and it was exhausting. It’s Election Day 2019, and here are some of the thoughts running through my mind on the matter.

Music: “Special Place” by Ketsa

BONUS: Kanye, MacArthur, and Moore

It’s been an interesting couple of weeks in Western Christianity as we saw the freak out over John MacArthur telling Beth Moore to go home and then a week later Kanye West dropping his gospel album “Jesus is King”. In the middle of the commotion an interesting thing was revealed about the state of the American Church…we don’t get along. In fact, we’re pretty divided along some unfortunate lines.

Episode 004 – Don’t Bite the Shepherd

The church is a two-sided coin. On one side you have church leaders, and on the other side you have church members. Both sides think they ARE the coin, when in reality they are but one side of the SAME coin. As a result, unity is missing from many of our local churches. Sure, pastors have been guilty of beating the sheep, but the sheep have been guilty of biting the shepherd as well. In this episode, the Angry Christian crew discusses the abuse of church leaders at the hands of the sheep. [Hebrews 13:17 and Ephesians 4] Be sure to check out the accompanying blog post [https://eagerfortruth.com/2019/10/21/dont-bite-the-shepherd/].

Episode 003 – Don’t Beat the Sheep

Being the leader in a church is hard work. Church folks can be some of the most frustrating and difficult folks to work with. But, despite their flaws (and our own) and the amount of stress and frustration we may face as church leaders, beating the sheep should never be an option. God doesn’t take kindly to it, and we put ourselves in great danger when we ignore this fact and abuse the sheep for personal gain. Unfortunately, it happens more often than we may realize as beating the sheep isn’t just a physical act. In this episode we introduce another host of the Angry Christian Podcast (Robert Platt) and explore how easy it is to fall into the angry trap as a church leader. [Ezekiel 34:1-11]

Episode 002 – The Place of Anger

What is the place of anger? Is there ever a moment when anger (especially by Christians) is ever acceptable? Divorce? Abortion? Terrorist attacks? Car accidents? Self anger? We talk about these questions and more on Episode 002 of The Angry Christian, “The Place of Anger”. [Ecclesiastes 3]

Episode 001 – Displaced

Have you ever been displaced? Perhaps physically by a natural disaster? Or spiritually and/or emotionally by your circumstances? In this episode of the Angry Christian Podcast we explore the topic of being displaced through stories (Brian shares his story of being displaced by Hurricane Katrina), scripture, and our own brand of fun. We also briefly touch on Pastor Jarrid Wilson and the American Churches sad response to suicide and mental illness.
