I have been silent since 9/11 on this blog….mostly because I’ve been busy like a madman with church, family, and work that this blog just got the silent treatment. So I’m sorry if I have any avid readers who have been waiting anxiously for me to post something new. Today is your day!
While I’ve been rather silent over the last week, I cannot be silent on what took place yesterday. Something revolting and vile took place on Twitter that many people may or may not be aware of, but I think you need to be aware of it as I believe this is a great testimony to where we are as a nation.
Yesterday on Twitter, apparently thousands of women proudly exclaimed in 120 characters or less that they had an abortion and are not ashamed and are (in many cases) proud of what they did as an act of great sexual and reproductive freedom over their own bodies. They of course had a catchy little hashtag they used to rally the masses under. The hashtag: #ShoutYourAbortion.
Do your best to hold back the vomit rising to your mouth.
Seriously folks….this happened….yesterday….in our country….as thousands of women told the world they murdered their unborn child and they are not ashamed and they are proud that they did it.
This, my friends, is the current moral temperature of this nation.
In spite of this insanity, I am happy to say that these tweets did not go unchallenged.
Thousands of other people responded to these women asking them to provide a sane and logical explanation of how they could possibly be proud of the fact that they murdered their own flesh and blood child. And of course the typical liberal responses were thrown out of being hateful and bigoted toward women, about how men don’t have lady bits and can’t get pregnant so they don’t have a voice in the matter, and how abortion isn’t killing a human…it’s just a clump of cells that won’t be human until it magically appears outside of the womb.
It’s enough to make any human being with a conscience sick to their stomach.
What is the difference between members of ISIS beheading someone on video and posting it to YouTube in celebration of the murder they committed and these women posting these Tweets in celebration of the murder they committed? Answer? Nothing is different. Both are guilty of murder, and both are guilty of celebrating it on social media.
What kind of darkness and evil must envelop a heart to want to murder their child and then celebrate it with a post on social media that invites criticism, and yet still maintain that no wrong was done, and instead it was a good thing?
Fact is I think the second half of Romans 1:28-32 sums up exactly what’s going on:
28 Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. 29 Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. 30 They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents. 31 They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy. 32 They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.
This is what’s happening, and not only with people outside of the Church.
We have people who claim to be IN the Church who are supporting and praising people for getting abortions.
We have people who claim to be IN the church who are getting abortions and telling people it’s acceptable.
Is it any wonder then that we have women of all ages taking to social media and touting the murder of their unborn as though they have done something wonderful for their child and society?
Church it is time that we stop remaining silent on this issue. It is time to speak up and shout down #ShoutYourAbortion.
It disturbs me to my core that this even happened yesterday and that the things I linked to above are even things we’re talking about. But my question is does it disturb YOU enough to actually do something about it?
Church – you are the very bride of Christ. Purify yourselves. Be called out to walk in a new life as a new creation. Do not turn back to your old ways. Do not sin and encourage others to sin as well. Turn back to Christ. Turn your heart back to your first love….the one who died for you, the one who gave it ALL so that you might live. Do not mock his sacrifice through your actions and your words.
Because as Peter said in 1 Peter 2:9:
…you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
